Could Sterling Shepard play against the Eagles?
The New York Giants have not yet activated wide receiver Sterling Shepard (turf toe) from injured reserve, but he did participate in their Tuesday walk-thru, which is a small sign that he could play on Thursday night against the Philadelphia Eagles.
With Shepard participating the Giants have to activate him from IR within the next 21 days. Right now with this being a short week I would be surprised if he plays against the Eagles even though New York could use him on the field.
Another player that is on injured reserve also participated in the Giants’ walk-thru and that is cornerback Brandon Williams, who has been recovering from a groin injury. Until the Giants activate Williams and/or Shepard they won’t count towards their 53-man roster.
In other roster news, the Carolina Panthers have signed Giants’ safety Sean Chandler from their practice squad, according to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan. I’m happy for Chandler. Hopefully he can make an impact on the Panthers’ active roster.
Update: It looks like the Giants are planning on having Shepard play on Thursday if all goes well this week in practice.
