Matt Peart outplayed Anthony Thomas against Washington
The New York Giants may now have a controversy at the left tackle position after head coach Joe Judge had both Andrew Thomas and Matt Peart split snaps this past Sunday against the Washington Football Team.
Peart got the start because Thomas was late for a team meeting during the week, but Judge insists that Peart getting playing time was a part of the plan. He claims that this is his way of developing Peart as well as Thomas.
While Thomas had a good game when it comes to his run-blocking, overall Peart outplayed him and had the highest offensive grade with an 89.7 and a run-blocking grade of 93.4.
Thomas also had his second straight game with a run-blocking grade in the 70’s which isn’t terrible. But Peart outplayed him against Washington and while it’s one game, it will be interesting to see what happens going forward. It sounds like Judge will continue to give him playing time despite the fact that Thomas is technically the starting left tackle.
Let’s face it, if Thomas was living up to being a first round pick, Judge wouldn’t be giving Peart the playing time he has this season.
Do you think Peart will take over for Thomas as the Giants’ starting left tackle or will Thomas keep his job for the rest of the season?
