Andrew Thomas keeps his job, for now
Despite the fact that New York Giants’ offensive lineman Matt Peart outplayed his teammate and fellow rookie Andrew Thomas this past Sunday against the Washington Football Team, Thomas will get his starting job back. At least for now.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported on Thursday that Thomas will start against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football.
Even though Thomas will get the start, Peart will likely get a share of the snaps after Giants’ head coach Joe Judge made it clear earlier in the week that he’s earned more playing time after the way he played against Washington. Both rookies will certainly be tested against a very good Eagles pass rush.
I do believe that Thomas, a first round pick, should get his starting job back,. But if Peart keeps outplaying him over the next few weeks, he should be benched. Hopefully the competition with Peart will push Thomas to improve. I’m sure that’s what Judge and the Giants are hoping for as well.
