Sterling Shepard would give the Giants’ offense a much needed boost
Update: Shepard is active and will play against the Eagles.
Update: The Giants have activated Shepard from IR. This is a good sign that he might play against the Eagles.
The Giants also promoted both Alex Bachman and Trent Harris from their practice squad. Bachman will provide the Giants’ depth at receiver
Original story: The New York Giants’ offense has been missing wide receiver Sterling Shepard since he went down with a toe injury a few weeks ago. The good news is that they might get him back for tonight’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network is reporting that Shepard will try and play against the Eagles, but we won’t know his status until he tests things out on the field in Philly.
With Golden Tate not living up to the contract the Giants gave to him over a year ago and Darius Slayton dealing with his own injury, the Giants really need Shepard back in the line up if he is in fact healthy enough to come back. It also hasn’t helped Big Blue that there younger receivers haven’t stepped up in his absence.
The Giants haven’t defeated the Eagles since 2016. They’re going to need all the help they can get to do so tonight. The bright spot for New York is that if they defeat the Eagles they’ll have a nice two game winning streak in a wide open NFC East.
