Markus Golden heads back to Arizona
The New York Giants have announced that they’ve traded outside linebacker Markus Golden to the Arizona Cardinals for a sixth round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
It’s funny how the Giants made this move today when earlier in the day I wrote how they should trade Golden due to the fact that they only gave him 33 percent of the snaps against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night. It’s obvious that he was no longer a fit for the Giants’ new defense under coordinator Patrick Graham,
Now Golden is headed back to the Cardinals where he spent four years before signing with the Giants in 2019 as he led Big Blue with 10.5 sacks during his first season in New York.
We shouldn’t be surprised that the Giants only got a sixth round pick in return for Golden given the fact that he’s 29 years-old and not an elite pass rusher.
With Golden now off to Arizona, I would expect to see more of rookie linebacker Carter Coughlin on the field. He was already out snapping Golden before the trade.
