Giants o-line will be missing at least one starter this week
News broke on Thursday that New York Giants’ offensive lineman Will Hernandez tested positive for COVID-19 and five other offensive lineman were forced to go home and quarantine along with some coaches. The problem is that every starting offensive lineman aside from Kevin Zeitler was forced to go home and couldn’t practice ahead of Monday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The good news is that 24 hours later, every offensive lineman is now back aside from Hernandez and no new players have tested positive for COVID-19. This is good news and a sign that Monday’s game will go down as scheduled.
With Hernandez out indefinitely, the expectation is that rookie Shane Lemieux will start at right guard against the Bucs. He’s only played two total snaps this season as an extra blocker in certain situations. The Giants are high on him and now he will have a chance to prove himself against one of the best teams in the NFL on Monday Night Football.
