Daniel Jones isn’t as bad as people make him out to be
Most people whether they’re New York Giants’ fans or not will look at the season that quarterback Daniel Jones has had in 2020 and point out the turnovers and other negative things that have happened. But there’s one bright spot that people are overlooking and it was pointed out by former Big Blue kicker Lawrence Tynes.
Tynes posted a tweet pointing out that Jones has the third highest quarterback rating in the NFL when it comes to passing attempts over 20 yards, according to Pro Football Focus. He’s in the company of Derek Carr, Drew Brees, Kyler Murray and Russell Wilson.
This shows how accurate Jones has been with his longer throws and as we saw in the Giants’ last game against the Eagles he threw a perfect pass to tight end Evan Engram that should have put the game away if Engram would have caught it.
As a second-year player there’s no doubt that Jones has a lot of work on, but he has a lot of potential and could still turn out to be a great player. Not every athlete is great right away.
