Louis Riddick is spot on with Daniel Jones
Former NFL executive and current ESPN NFL analyst Louis Riddick is great at breaking down the game of football, which is why he could find himself back in the NFL at some point in the future with a team.
Riddick recently gave him thoughts on New York Giants’ quarterback Daniel Jones and he states the obvious that he needs to cut down on turnovers, but that Big Blue need to give him better weapons as well.
“If he doesn’t correct it and it becomes a bigger problem, then you go to the next phase of the evaluation: Is this his surroundings or is this who he is now?” Riddick told The NY Post. “They are not at that point yet — and I don’t think anybody needs to be at that point until you get a more stable supporting cast, and you keep a coaching staff in place for more than one year.”
I totally agree with Riddick, the Giants may have a great running back in Saquon Barkley, but they don’t have a true number one receiver and their offensive line is one of the worst in the NFL. How can they truly evaluate a young quarterback like Jones with the lack of talent he has around him?
“You can’t make sweeping decisions about what kind of player he is going to be because there are too many things around him that are uncertain,” Riddick continued. “The one thing he does need to cut down is turning over the football because then you have no shot of winning. If he keeps doing that, you are not going to win games. If you don’t win games, people look to replace you.”
At the end of the day if Jones doesn’t protect the football, people won’t care how bad his supporting cast is.
