Giants let another one slip through their hands
The New York Giants gave the Tampa Bay Buccaneers their best shot, but it simply wasn’t enough. Below are my takeaways from the Giants’ loss to Tampa.
Joe Judge has his team playing hard
As bad as the Giants’ record is, head coach Joe Judge his this team ready to play. It’s even more obvious that their on the field issues are tied to their lack of talent, and not the coaching staff.
New York just needs the right general manager to actually put the talent they need on this team.
Daniel Jones’ critical mistakes continue
Jones really needs to throw the ball away instead of making bad throws that lead to easy interceptions. He has to throw the ball away instead of forcing it. Jones also missed his receivers on some easy routes. He needs to become more consistent with his touch. But his mistakes are outweighing his positive plays.
On the flip side, his touchdown throw to Dion Lewis was perfect and the Giants’ final offensive drive was impressive, but it wasn’t enough and that had plenty of chances to win the game.
Jason Garrett is not a bad play-caller
I’ve really been impressive with Garrett’s play-calling this season. He hasn’t been perfect because no one is, but I know Cowboy fans laughed at the Giants for hiring him as their offensive coordinator. He’s done a very good job with the little talent he has at his disposal.
Defense keeping them in every game
Like Garrett on offense, Giants’ defensive coordinator Patrick Graham has done a great job with the talent he’s been given on defense. He’s doesn’t have any All-Pro players, but the guys he does have have played great as a unit.
If the Giants’ offense could play better, it would really help their defense.
Giants aren’t far off
Like I said above, the Giants have the right coaching staff with Judge, Graham and Garrett, they just need a general manager to bring in talent that’s going to flourish. The great thing about the NFL is that a team can turn things around very quickly.
