Giants need to dump some vets
If the New York Giants could unload any two veteran players right now it would likely be wide receiver Golden Tate and offensive lineman Kevin Zeitler with both players past their prime and clearly on the decline.
We’ve been hearing rumblings that the Giants might look to trade both Zeitler and Tate and now ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed it on Sunday.
The New York Giants are willing to trade older, high-priced veterans such as guard Kevin Zeitler and wide receiver Golden Tate. New York already traded pass-rusher Markus Golden to Arizona last month.
Zeitler is still viable enough to help another team as s starter but Tate would only be good as a third receiver on a playoff bound team. I honestly don’t think either player will end up getting traded due to their contracts and ages.
Tate’s contract isn’t attractive at over $9 million a season and Zeitler’s isn’t great at over $10 million a season.
When it comes to compensation, New York would be lucky to get a sixth round pick for Tate. But as for Zeitler they be able to get a fourth rounder.
