Golden Tate’s punishment isn’t over
All week New York Giants’ wide receiver Golden Tate ran with the scout team instead of practicing with the starting offense after complaining about not getting the football during Monday night’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Tate playing with the scout team was a punishment from head coach Joe Judge and as of Friday his status for this week’s game against the Washington Football Team was up for grabs.
Kim Jones and Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that Tate didn’t travel with the Giants down to Washington for Sunday’s NFC East showdown. There is a chance though that he will play next Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.
I like the way Judge is holding his players accountable for their actions and creating a healthy culture. It will be interesting to see whether or not the Giants keep Tate or release him after failing to trade him prior to this past Tuesday’s deadline.
At the end of the day, Tate is getting older and he won’t be a part of the Giants’ current rebuilding project for much longer. I got a feeling that that he might be gone soon.
