Corey Ballentine is gone, for now
The New York Giants announced on Tuesday that they’ve waived cornerback Corey Ballentine and activated offensive lineman Will Hernandez from the COVID-19 list and wide receiver Dante Pettis who they claimed off of waivers from the San Francisco 49ers last week.
I wouldn’t expect Hernandez to start this Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles since he’s likely not in game shape, but he could get some reps. We will certainly continue to see rookie Shane Lemieux.
It will be interesting to see whether or not Pettis gets any work as a receiver with Golden Tate likely back this weeks and undrafted rookie free agent Austin Mack playing well against the Washington Football Team this past Sunday. If anything Pettis will likely see some work as a punt returner.
When it comes to Ballentine, the Giants can always sign him to their practice squad if he clears waivers. He was a starter earlier in the season but lost his job due to poor play.
