Will Hernandez is back
The New York Giants announced on Friday that they’ve waived tight end Eric Tomlinson and offensive line Kenny Wiggins. In response they signed offensive tackle Kyle Murphy from their practice squad.
With the NFL trade deadline now in the past and Kevin Zeitler sticking around, it seems as though the Giants no longer need Wiggins. Also it helps that Will Hernandez is now back from the COVID-19 list and ready to play on Sunday. Head coach Joe Judge indicated on Friday that he will play and all of their guards and tackles will play on Sunday as well.
As good as Hernandez has been this season, rookie Shane Lemieux has been playing very well along with the rest of New York’s young offensive line. I expect the rookie out of Oregon to continue to get snaps even with Hernandez back.
The Giants also have an open roster spot that they can use for rookie linebacker Tae Crowder or Alfred Morris if running back Devonta Freeman is unable to play this Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.
