DeAndre Baker is not coming back to the Giants
With news breaking on Monday that armed robbery charges against former New York Giants cornerback DeAndre Baker have been dropped, NFL teams are showing interest in the former first round of pick.
The NFL has released the following statement regarding Baker via Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network:
With charges being dropped against Baker, I’m not sure how the NFL would justify him being punished by them.
I know Giants fans would love their team to bring Baker back now that he’s been found innocent with charges being dropped, but Jordan Raanan of ESPN says Big Blue have already made their decision and he’s not coming back.
Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com also says it’s unlikely the Giants will bring Baker back.
So, Baker is eligible to sign with a new team, although a reunion with the Giants is extremely unlikely, a person with knowledge of the situation told NorthJersey.com and USA TODAY Network on Monday.
The Giants could certainly use Baker, but you have to remember that this is a new coaching staff that didn’t draft him and they likely don’t want to disrupt what they have going on right now.
