Giants have activated their back-up kicker
With news breaking on Tuesday morning that New York Giants’ kicker Graham Gano has tested positive for COVID-19, Big Blue has signed kicker/punter Ryan Santoso to their active roster after placing Gano on the COVID-19/reserve list.
Santoso has been on the Giants’ practice squad all season in case something like this happened to either Gano or punter Riley Dixon.
The 25 year-old Santoso went undrafted in 2018 out of the University of Minnesota and has spent time with the Detroit Lions, Montreal Alouettes and the Tennessee Titans. He’s also bigger than the average kicker at 6’5″, 258 pounds. I think it’s safe to say that he could also play linebacker. Ok, I’m kidding.
With the Giants on a bye week, there is a chance that Gano could be back in time for their next game on November 29th against the Cincinnati Bengals. We’ll have to wait and see how long it takes for him to recover.
Right now the Giants can only hope that Gano will be OK for the Bengals game because he’s been great this season.
