Joe Judge is taking a hard stance with players and coaches
The New York Giants fired offensive line coach Marc Colombo earlier in the week after Colombo was told that Dave DeGuglielmo was being brought in as a consultant to help him coach the offensive line.
Colombo wasn’t happy and had some strong words for Judge which is why he was fired.
NFL Insider Michael Silver reported on Friday that Judge and Colombo’s beef all started weeks ago during a practice session in which Judge corrected the technique of center Nick Gates. Colombo apparently disagreed and Judge lashed out at him.
Silver also mentioned that the Giants’ offensive line really liked playing for Colombo, so Judge firing him likely isn’t a popular move for a portion of the locker room. It will be interesting to see how this affects their morale.
One big issue that could hurt the Giants is that their new offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo will be teaching his players new techniques, so we will have to wait and see how they perform against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Update: Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com is taking a different approach than Silver. He also doesn’t think that it’s judge’s fault per say.
