Joe Judge didn’t make the call to fire Marc Colombo
It’s been almost a week since the New York Giants fired former offensive line coach Marc Colombo and once again we have more details of what went down.
Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network mentioned on Sunday that Giants’ head coach Joe Judge wasn’t the one who actually fired Colombo, it was New York’s upper management hat made the call because they were worred about things escalating to a point where things could get physical.
Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com also confirmed Garafolo’s report that Giants’ security informed Colombo of his release.
Garafolo also mentioned on Saturday that one issue between Judge and Colombo was that Judge wanted an offensive line rotation and Colombo didn’t and Colombo didn’t go forward with Judge’s orders.
Everything hat went down was unfortunate, but I’m having a hard time understanding why Colombo was so adamant about doing things his way and not listening to Judge when the Giants’ offensive line was playing really poorly earlier in the season and Colombo is a first-year coach with no experience. His pride clearly got the best of him.
