Joe Webb could end up signing with the Giants
With starting quarterback Daniel Jones dealing with a hamstring injury and his status for this coming Sunday’s game in doubt, we found out on Monday the New York Giants have already started the process of signing free agent quarterback Alex Tanney.
Now we’ve learned that the Giants are also interested in signing former Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback Joe Webb, according to Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com.
Webb would not be an option for this week’s game given that his entry process started today he wouldn’t be cleared until Sunday. Whereas Tanney should be cleared and ready by Saturday.
Webb is also a versatile player that can play wide receiver and special teams. With COVID-19 running rampant he could be an option for numerous positions if the Giants need to add a player to their roster to replace a receiver or special teamer aside from quarterback.
The 34 year-old Webb hasn’t played in a game as a quarterback since 201 with the Buffalo Bills. He also got some playing time with the Houston Texans during the 2019 preseason. His career passing stats are 888 yards, three touchdowns, six interceptions and a rating of 36.
