The Giants need Blake Martinez down the stretch
One of the unsung heroes on the New York Giants’ defense this season has been starting middle linebacker Blake Martinez who had a monster game against the Seattle Seahawks before exiting in the second half with a back injury.
Jordan Raanan of ESPN mentioned on Monday that Martinez’s injury isn’t considered serious, which is great news because he didn’t return to this past Sunday’s game against the Seahawks.
Martinez is second in the NFL with 111 tackles and added five against Seattle this past Sunday. When he went out, rookie seventh round pick Tae Crowder stepped in at middle linebacker and did a very good job to help New York pull out the upset win on the road.
Hopefully Martinez will be fine for this Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. But he may need to at least take one game off to get himself right now that they the Giants are suddenly in a race for the NFC East with the Washington Football Team who also pulled off a big upset after defeating the previously undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field.
