Is Odell Beckham Jr. right about Pat Shurmur?
Former New York Giants and current Cleveland Browns’ wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. already sounded off on a recent podcast and stated that he believes Big Blue ruined Eli manning’s final years in the NFL.
Now it’s come out that he also blames former head coach Pat Shurmur for his exit.
“It just felt like I was coming to the end of a road and I was pushing for something that wasn’t tangible. And that was where it all went haywire,” Beckham said this week on the “All Things Covered” podcast with Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden, via the NY Post. “We got a new coach in there, and I feel like that’s a situation I can be honest now, because people have come out, like anonymous coaches, when we know who it really was.
“I felt betrayed in a sense that this coach tried to turn me against my brothers and my coaches and was telling the young guys to stay away from me because I’m not a good person or not a good team (player) or role model or this and that.”
I for one wasn’t happy when the Giants traded Beckham, but they got some pretty good players in return for him like Kevin Zeitler and Jabrill Peppers who’s turning into a heck of a safety.
As great of a player that Beckham is, the Giants are proving this season that you don’t necessarily need a top wide receiver to win games. It would still be nice if he could somehow finish his career in New York with the Giants.
