Giants need Daniel Jones as soon as possible
Even though the New York Giants came away with a win on the road against the Seattle Seahawks with Colt McCoy under center, they need starting quarterback Daniel Jones back as soon as possible.
Jordan Raanan of ESPN says that Jones is expected to play against the Arizona Cardinals this coming Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
Barring a setback, Jones is expected back from a hamstring injury this week when the Giants host the Arizona Cardinals (1 p.m. ET, Fox), according to a source close to the quarterback. That’s big for the NFC East leading Giants (5-7) with the Washington Football Team (5-7) breathing down their necks.
Raanan did mention though that Jones will need to show the coaches and trainers that he is healthy enough to play during practice this week. Head coach joe Judge says he will have a chance to do so.
“We’re going to give him every opportunity to go on the practice field this week and show that he can defend himself on the field properly,” Giants coach Joe Judge said. “If that’s the case, then we obviously want him to play. But we’re going to make sure we do the right thing by him.
Jones wanted to play against the Seahawks, but Judge decided to keep him out, which ended up working out for the team since they came away with a win.
“Look, I had to make the decision [Sunday at Seattle] to go ahead and hold him out. He was a little disappointed because he’s a competitive guy. But we have Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to get on the field. We’ll see how he looks in there, and we’ll make the best decision for him going forward.”
With the Washington Football Team defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday and remaining neck and neck with the Giants in the NFC East they need Jones back as soon as possible because I don’t foresee them continuing to win with McCoy under center.
