Jerry Reese could be back in the NFL very soon
A report came out recently that the Detroit Lions are interested in former New York Giants’ general manager Jerry Reese. It also looks like he wants to return to the NFL.
Now Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network is reporting that Reese is in fact interested in coming back to the NFL after taking a break since he was let go by the Giants in 2017.
As much as many Giants fans hate Reese, if it wasn’t for him the Giants likely wouldn’t have won the Super Bowl in both 2007 and 2011 because his drafts around that time were vital in helping New York put together a winning team. Now I know Ernie Accorsi was a huge part of building the 2007 team, but Reese’s draft class that year was huge for them. Not to mention he did a good job in picking up guys in free agency like Sam Madison.
There is no doubt that the Giants did the right thing when they let Reese go, but I think he deserves another chance and has the talent to help another organization win a Super Bowl.
