Browns will be quite a test for the Giants
The New York Giants are now a game back in the NFC East and desperately need to record their sixth win the season in order to have a chance of getting back on top. This week they will face a very good Cleveland Browns team.
Below are my keys to victory for the Giants.
Slow down Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb
The key to the Browns’ success on offense has been their stout running game behind both Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb. Both players have been playing so well that they’re each on pace for 1,000 yards this season.
So if the Giants’ defense wants to get off the field quickly they will need to slow down both Chubb and Hunt and put the Browns in third and long situations. Good luck.
Establish the run
The Arizona Cardinals shut down the Giants’ running attack early on last week and it paralyzed their offense. The only way New York is going to be able to score points against Cleveland is by getting both Wayne Gallman and Alfred Morris going early.
Whether Daniel Jones or Colt McCoy start at quarterback they will need the running game to get going so it can set up the passing game and relieve some pressure off of their offensive line.
Put pressure on Baker Mayfield
If the Giants can slow down Hunt and Chubb and that’s a big if, they will then be able to then tee off and get after Baker Mayfield.
Mayfield has been playing well lately but has been inconsistent this season so he is vulnerable under pressure.
