Devonta Freeman should be back soon for the Giants
I’m sure a lot of New York Giants’ fans forgot that running back Devonta Freeman was still on the team. Well he is and it looks like he could be back soon.
The Giants actually activated Freeman from the COVID-19 list on Thursday, but he still can’t play yet because he’s on injured reserve. Jordan Raanan of ESPN believes he could be back within the next week or two and says he looked pretty good in practice this week.
It will be interesting to see what kind of role Freeman has given the fact that the tandem of Alfred Morris and Wayne Gallman has been amazing since he went on IR.
I honestly believe the Giants should keep Gallman as their starter and bring Freeman in as a change of pace guy. A big difference between both runners is that Gallman is averaging 4.6 yards per carry compared to Freeman’s 3.2. You also have to factor in that the offensive line wasn’t working as well together earlier in the season when Freeman was starting.
