Giants need to beef up their defensive pass rush
Despite a pretty strong season for the New York Giants under first-year head coach Joe Judge, this team has a bunch of needs that they will need to take care of during the upcoming 2021 NFL offseason.
Michael Renner of Pro Football Focus has come out with their biggest needs for every NFL team. He has the Giants biggest need being an edge rusher. Here’s what Renner wrote:
Kyler Fackrell currently leads all Giants edge defenders with 15 total pressures. Fifteen! They’ve had injury problems at the position, but none of the six Giants edge rushers who have played at least 100 snaps have been effective when called upon.
Like I said above, the Giants have a lot of needs and edge rusher is certainly the most pressing need on defense. Two of the top edge players coming out from college are Kwity Paye of Michigan and Gregory Rousseau of Miami, per PFF. They’re the only two players that could end up going in the first or second round when it comes to edge defenders.
Now if we’re talking about the offensive side of the ball, New York really need a number one wide receiver. In this case Ja’Marr Chase of LSU, Jaylen Waddle and Devonta Smith of Alabama are the top choices.
If the Giants end up with a top-10 pick for the 2021 NFL Draft taking a receiver would make more sense than an edge defender. They would have to go with the latter in the second round.
