Daniel Jones back after being out last week
Even though starting quarterback Daniel Jones was limited in practice all week for the New York Giants it was looking like he would start against the Baltimore Ravens this coming Sunday. Now it’s pretty much official.
Reports are now out that Jones will start against the Ravens and this of course means that quarterback Clayton Thorson will not be elevated to the Giants’ 53-man roster this week and will remain on the practice squad.
Aside from Jones playing, starting middle linebacker Blake Martinez will play despite tweaking his ankle in practice this week. And cornerback Darnay Holmes will be back after missing the past two games with a knee injury. Getting Holmes back will be huge. They’ve really missed him the past two games.
On the flipside, starting outside linebacker Kyler Fackrell will not be activated from injure reserve for Sunday’s game even though he was designated for return and was back at practice this week. My guess is that he will be back next Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys for their regular season finale. The Giants should be fine with Carter Coughlin and Niko Lalos helping out on the outside in Fackrell’s absence.
