Jerry Reese deserves another chance
Former New York Giants’ general manager Jerry Reese has been drawing some interest this season from teams like the Detroit Lions who are looking for a new GM.
Now Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network is reporting that Reese has already interviewed with the Jacksonville Jaguars for their vacant general manager position.
This is an interesting move by the Jags who already hired former Giants’ head coach Tom Coughlin as their executive VP of football operations in 2017. But things didn’t work out and he was fired in 2019. They clearly believe in some of the Giants’ former employees, which is why they’ve at least interviewed Reese.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, Reese deserves another shot as a general manager. He was a huge part of the Giants winning two Super Bowls even though you can mostly credit the one in 2007 to former GM Ernie Accorsi. The draft class that season that was a result of Reese’s work, and it was a big part of that championship season.
I hope Reese ends up getting another chance and is very successful.
