Cowboys won’t be an easy game for the Giants
This is it. Despite a 5-10 record heading into week 17, the New York Giants can win the NFC East and get into the playoffs with a win over the Dallas Cowboys and a loss by the Washington Football Team.
One thing is certain, this Cowboys team has been playing well lately and won’t be a pushover.
Here are three keys to victory for the Giants:
Protect Daniel Jones
New York starting quarterback Daniel Jones has been sacked a total of 13 times over the course of his past two starts. We know the Cowboys have a very good pass rush so this could be a tough game for him.
If New York offensive coordinator Jason Garrett is smart he will establish the run in order to offset the Cowboys’ pass rush, which will give Jones time to throw from the pocket.
Run the football
Like I mentioned above, the Giants have to establish the run. I really hope Garrett doesn’t try and get too cute against his former team and mess things up.
The Giants need a healthy mix of Wayne Gallman and Alfred Morris and they should be fine.
Get after Andy Dalton
Dallas quarterback Andy Dalton is not a bad player at all when he has time to throw. But like any other quarterback, when he faces pressure he struggles.
Giants’ defensive coordinator Patrick Graham will have to get creative in pressuring Dalton without a top-end edge rusher at his disposal.
