Kyler Fackrell is back for the Cowboys
On Saturday the New York Giants activated starting outside linebacker Kyler Fackrell from injured reserve and placed fullback Eli Penny on on IR, according to Zack Rosenblatt of NJ Advance Media.
Jordan Raanan of ESPN also reported that the Giants have elevated kicker/punter Ryan Santoso from their practice squad and wide receiver/quarterback Joe Webb was waived.
Cornerback Madre Harper was also activated, per Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com.
Losing Penny is truly unfortunate for the Giants’ run game. I would imagine that they will use tight ends Kaden Smith and/or Levine Toilolo at fullback in Penny’s absence. Hopefully they can help Wayne Gallman and Alfred Morris get things moving on the ground this week.
With this week being the last game of the regular season, unless they Giants make the playoffs and make it to the NFC Championship, Penny’s season is over because they have to wait three weeks to activate him from injured reserve.
Getting Fackrell back should help. He did end up getting a pick-six against the Cowboys earlier in the season. Hopefully he can do the same on Sunday.
