Dante Pettis still has a lot to prove
New York Giants’ wide receiver Dante Pettis has had quite the season after starting out with the San Francisco 49ers, but then getting cut midway through the season. That’s of course when the Giants decided to claim him off of waivers.
“There were certain things that threw me for a loop in particular with just the way the season started for me, getting cut and all that, coming out to New York. But I’m happy with how everything has turned out. I like being here. Like I said, I’m happy with how things have gone,” Pettis told reporters this week.
Pettis also talked about his recent battle with COVID-19 and how he lost eight pounds.
“I was just in my room for, I think it was 10 days. After about six days, I started to feel better so I could walk around and everything. But I lost probably eight pounds. When I came back, it was just my body was a little weaker. It took a while to kind of get back up to speed after that,” he said.
Unfortunately too many players around the NFL have contracted COVID this season and it’s taken a toll on them. Watching the Giants play the Cleveland Browns recently you could see how Browns’ pass rusher Myles Garrett was having a hard time catching his breathe during the game after he also went through having the virus.
Pettis also indicated that he’s excited about his time with the Giants. It will be interested to see how they will use him going forward because he’s already a good kick returner and has some potential as a wide receiver.
