Jason Garrett likely won’t stay with the Giants down the road
Earlier in the week it was reported that the Los Angeles Chargers had requested to interview New York Giants’ offensive coordinator Jason Garrett. Will it looks like that interview will in fact go down.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported on Thursday that Garrett will interview with the Chargers on Friday.
Giants’ general manager Dave Gettleman didn’t sound happy with the idea of possibly losing Garrett after one season when he spoke with the media earlier in the week.
“The possibility of Jason leaving, of course it makes you a little antsy,” said Gettleman.
The reason the Giants want to keep Garrett despite having the 31st ranked offense in the NFL in 2020, is because they don’t want to keep switching offenses. They want to keep things consistent for quarterback Daniel Jones.
If Garrett doesn’t leave now, I do believe he will end up taking a head coaching job either next year or definitely the year after. My feeling is that he will get another shot as a head coach.
