Trading for Deshaun Watson doesn’t make sense for the Giants
There has been a lot of news over the past few days of star quarterback Deshaun Watson not being happy with the Houston Texans and possibly asking for a trade. Right now the one team being linked to a possible trade for Watson is the Miami Dolphins.
I know the New York Giants aren’t being linked to Watson, but I’m sure there are people out there that would love to make a deal for him.
Well if the Giants do want to make an offer for Watson I would imagine that it would have to include their current starter in Daniel Jones. Aside from him I’m sure New York would have to hand over at least a pair of first round picks as well as some early picks in the second and third rounds.
So should the Giants try and make a trade for Watson?
The short answer is no. The reason being because the Giants aren’t ready to contend and they can’t afford to give up a bunch of high draft picks when they’re still rebuilding. This is probably why they haven’t bothered to even call the Texans and they shouldn’t.
