Offensive tackle in the first round?
The New York Giants have many needs heading into the upcoming offseason. Whether it’s along the offensive line, adding a top wide receiver, linebacker help and more.
Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports has posted a 2021 NFL mock draft and has the Giants taking USC offensive tackle Alijah Vera-Tucker with the 11th overall pick.
Round 1, pick 11: Alijah Vera-Tucker, OT, USC
The Giants need pass rush help, but bolstering the offensive line may take priority. Andrew Thomas got better as the year progressed, but Vera-Tucker proved in 2020 that he can play either guard or tackle and excelled while doing it.
This probably wouldn’t be a bad pick, but I think rookie Andrew Thomas proved that he can play left tackle. Now the nice thing about Vera-Tucker is his versatility. But he’s not worth a first round pick if he’s going to play guard or even right tackle.
Now the Giants should certainly take the best overall player at 11. It will be interesting to see who’s still on the board at that point. Hopefully a great wide receiver or pass rusher.
