Wayne Gallman came up huge for the Giants in 2020
The New York Giants have some big name players getting ready to hit free agency with the likes of Leonard Williams and Dalvin Tomlinson.
A key player that no one is talking about that will also become a free agent in a couple of months is running back Wayne Gallman.
Prior to this season most people wouldn’t have cared if Gallman was going to become a free agent. But after what he showed the Giants and the rest of the league in 2020, a team may want to give him a nice pay day.
Gallman racked up 682 yards and scored six touchdowns while averaging 4.2 yards per carry. Those are really good numbers when you factor in that the Giants’ offensive line is made up of mostly young and inexperienced players.
It’s really hard to predict how much money Gallman will get on the open market, which is why the Giants will likely let him test the waters before they make an offer. Or they could very well make him an offer and see if any other team is willing to beat it.
If a team is willing to “overpay” for Gallman their is no way the Giants will re-sign him because they of course already have Saquon Barkley already who is heading into the final year of his rookie contract. Plus they have other more pressing needs. With that being said, I think there is an outside chance that he will be back in New York next season because I would bet that someone else will pay more for his services.

Gallmans a tough call. He finally displayed talent after 3 years of not much. He would be a solid backup however if he demands a big pay rises you have to draft a replacement. One might say the improve line as the season matured, played a role in his success. Using a 4th rounder or later or signing a backup might be the way to go. RB is a funny position to judge in the free agent market. Wait and see who steps up first and go from there is the best way to handle Wayne Train. Hope he’s back if not I wish him luck.
I do not pretend to be an expert in running a pro football team but I am relatively sure the Giants will screw this up.
