Jason Garrett won’t be going to LA
Last week it was reported that Jason Garrett’s interview with the Los Angeles Chargers for their head coaching job went very well. So there was some thought that the New York Giants’ offensive coordinator could be leaving the Big Apple.
Then news came out that the Chargers were likely going to hire Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll because he was the favorite at the end of the week. Things have quickly changed, but not in Garrett’s favor.
News broke on Sunday night that the Chargers are instead hiring Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Brandon Staley as their new head coach, according to Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
So Garrett will certainly be back with the Giants for at least another season. We’ll have to wait and see if he draws more interested next year and gets some more interviews. One thing is for sure, if Garrett can’t turn the Giants offense around next season he may not be around in 2022 because they can’t afford another year of being ranked at the bottom of the league in total offense.
