James White could be a good replacement for Wayne Gallman
The New York Giants might be in the market for a new back up running back with Wayne Gallman ready to hit the open market.
The Giants could end up re-signing Gallman if the price is right, but if they aren’t able to work out a deal, New York will need to find a replacement. So how does James White sound? Yes, the James White who has been playing for the New England Patriots.
White is scheduled to become a free agent and shouldn’t cost a lot after completing a 3 year, $12 million deal with the Patriots. With the fact that he’s now 28 years-old I would imagine that Giants could sign him to a contract around $2-3 million per year on something like a two year deal.
Of course there is risk with signing White because he hasn’t been very durable. over the past two years after missing three games. The good news is that the Giants wouldn’t need him to carry the load. At least we hope that’s not the case with Saquon Barkley coming back from ACL surgery.
This move would make sense with Judge being familiar with White since they were both with the Patriots prior to Judge becoming the Giants head coach.
If the money is right and the Giants can’t re-sign Gallman, I wouldn’t be opposed to adding White as a free agent.
