Giants were worried about undefeated Patriots cheating
In the past the New England Patriots and head coach Bill Belichick have been involved in a few cheating scandals. With that being said, former New York Giants’ kicker and two-time Super Bowl champions Lawrence Tynes said that the Giants moved their Super Bowl practices in 2008 indoors.
“In New York our practice facility was near a hotel — it was like two miles away, but it was an elevated hotel,” Tynes said during a radio appearance on Fescoe in the Morning on KCSP in Kansas City. “And you could literally look into our practice field if you were on one of the upper floors. And Coach Coughlin that whole week, we practiced in our indoor facility. We wouldn’t go outside because of that reason.
“There were rumors back in the day when Bill Parcells was there that someone did that. So there’s kind of been this story in New York, that ‘Hey we’re going to play a big game, we’re going to the indoor facility.’ Everyone is so paranoid during the Super Bowl, and football season.”
Well the Giants had a right to be worried. Especially leading up to a huge game that they ended up winning by upsetting the undefeated Patriots. It wouldn’t have been difficult for Belichick and the Pats to have someone video tape the Giants practices from that hotel during the week leading up to the Super Bowl.
