Alex Tanney is done playing football
Former New York Giants’ quarterback Alex Tanney has announced his retirement after nine seasons in the NFL.
The 33 year-old Tanney only threw 15 passes in a span of two games during his career with the Giants who he has been with since 2018.
Tanney went undrafted in 2012 out of Mommouth College in Illinois, but ended up on the Kansas City Chiefs roster that season. He also spent time with the Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tennessee Titans, Buffalo Bills and Indianapolis Colts.
Tanney started to get noticed by NFL teams after posting trick shot videos on YouTube. You can check one of them out below.
I do have to say that for Tanney to play in the NFL for nine seasons is a huge accomplishment and I wish him nothing but the best going forward.
The expectation is that Tanney will now pursue a career as a coach. It will be interesting to see whether he begins his new career in high school, college or at the NFL level.
