Giants fill a couple of needs in this mock
Chad Reuter of NFL.com has released a three round NFL mock draft and he has some interesting picks for the New York Giants.
So in the first round, Reuter has the Giants taking Alabama wide receiver Devonta Smith, which is a surprise because I can’t imagine him slipping to 11.
Here’s what Retuer wrote:
Round 1, Pick 11: Devonta Smith, wide receiver, Alabama, senior
Typically, GM Dave Gettleman would look to improve the front seven with this pick. But Smith’s value is too high to ignore, despite his lean frame. Gettleman’s first-round pick from two years ago, quarterback Daniel Jones, will appreciate the explosive, tough and reliable Smith.
For the Giants’ second round pick, Reuter went with Alabama defensive tackle Christian Barmore.
Round 2, Pick 42: Christian Barmore, defensive tackle, Alabama, redshirt sophomore
With both Leonard Williams and Dalvin Tomlinson set to become free agents, I don’t think the Giants will be able to re-sign both of them. So adding someone like Barmore makes sense.
Now in the third round, Reuter has the Giants selecting Oklahoma center Creed Humphrey.
Round 3, Pick 76: Creed Humphrey, center, Oklahoma, redshirt junior
I would rather see the Giants go with a position of need here, but Nick Gates wasn’t great in 2020 and it would be a good idea to give him some competition and add some depth heading into next season.
