Patrick Graham is a heck of a coach
Once the New York Giants’ 2020 season ended, defensive coordinator Patrick Graham started to gain some attention from teams around the league. One in particular, the New York Jets, wanted to interview him for their vacant head coaching job.
During a recent interview Graham stated that he doesn’t want to leave the Giants because this is his “dream job.”
“This is my dream job, being the defensive coordinator of the New York Giants,” Graham told NJ.com. “It’s a great opportunity, to be able to stay here, and the commitment they’re showing me. But the fact is, it’s the NFL. I still got a ways to go. We’ve got to perform better than this past year. That’s my goal. But I love being here.”
We’ll have to wait and see if Graham sticks around in 2022 if he ends having another great season. He might be saying this is his dream job right now, but what if he continues to get attention as a possible head coaching candidate?
Now, maybe Graham doesn’t want to become a head coach and there is nothing wrong with that if that’s the case. And if that is the case then he won’t be going anywhere. But it seems like every football coach dreams of being the head guy.
The great thing about Graham signing an extension is that he’s showing his commitment to the organization and to his players who love playing for him.
