The Giants need to get a playmaker at 11
Another day and another NFL mock draft. This time its from Steve Serby of the New York Post who has the New York Giants using the 11th overall pick on Alabama wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. Here’s what he wrote:
It is imperative that GM Dave Gettleman gives Daniel Jones (11 TD passes) a dynamic playmaker who would juice coordinator Jason Garrett’s anemic offense (31st in yards and points) and look markedly different with the return of Saquon Barkley. Waddle is not the biggest target (5-foot-10, 182), but he plays bigger, and Golden Tate turns 33 in August.
I know some people are projecting the Giants to take Florida tight end Kyle Pitts, but if one of the big three receivers in this year’s draft is available they need to go with one of them. Now of Waddle, Devonta Smith and Ja’Marr Chase are off the board, then by al means take Pitts.
Out of all of the top receivers, I think Waddle is my favorite because of his athleticism. The thing that worries me about Smith is his size and weight.
One thing is for sure though, if the Giants can’t get a playmaker in the first round, this drat is so deep at receiver that they should be able to still get a good player in the second or third round.
