Tristan Wirfs is very good, but he didn’t play left tackle in 2020
New York Giants’ first round left tackle Andrew Thomas looked shaky early on in the 2020 NFL season, but got better as time went on and finished very strong.
Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports has released a 2020 NFL re-draft and has the Giants going with offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs instead of Thomas.
The Giants get another opportunity to pick the best offensive tackle in the class.
Wirfs was amazing for the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but one thing that many people aren’t bringing up is the fact he didn’t play left tackle this past season, he was on the right side. No one really knows how he would have performed if the Giants did end up drafting him and having him play on the left side.
Right now it’s easy to say that Wirfs would be a better pick than Thomas, but let’s see how their careers continue to pan out and then judge. With the way Thomas played at the end of 2020, he could end up being just as good or better than Wirfs.
