Sam Beal just hasn’t done enough to stick around
New York Giants’ cornerback Sam Beal has had three years to prove that he belongs in the NFL, but unfortunately he hasn’t lived up to expectations after being taken in the third round of the 2018 NFL supplemental draft.
It sounds like Beal may not be back with the Giants for next season. Jordan Raanan of ESPN says he would be shocked if he remains on the team.
Unfortunately for Beal, he ended up suffering an injury during his rookie year that forced him to miss the entire season and then in 2019 he only played in five games. With the fact that he opted out of this past season, he never got to prove himself after his first two injury riddled seasons.
The Giants desperately need a number two corner and I doubt that will be Beal heading into the 2021 NFL season. Other guys like Darney Holmes and even Isaac Yiadom have already outperformed him, which makes it more likely he won’t be around much longer.
It would be great if the Giants could get more out of Beal after using a third round pick on him. I would like to at least see if he can breakout during the preseason, but New York might be ready to move on right now.

Bring him to camp and see how he performs. Then make a decision.
Another wasted premium pick on a CB.
