Selecting Devonta Smith would be ideal for the Giants
So far this offseason it’s obvious most people are having the New York Giants going with either an edge rusher of a wide receiver in their mock drafts because those are two of their biggest needs heading into the 2021 NFL season.
Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports has released his latest NFL mock draft and has the Giants selecting Alabama wide receiver Devonta Smith. Here’s what he wrote:
The Giants have a lot of needs — edge rusher, cornerback, offensive lineman, tight end — but it’s hard to pass up on the best player in college football. Smith is an out-of-this-world talent whose only shortcoming is that he’s undersized. His slight frame didn’t limit his effectiveness during his Alabama career and he gives Daniel Jones an immediate downfield threat in New York.
At this point, I believe it would take a miracle for Smith to be on the board when the Giants are picking at 11. I honestly think there’s a good chance that none of the top three receivers in the 2021 draft will be available when New York is picking. Hopefully I’m wrong.
If the Giants aren’t able to get a top receiver they will likely settle with taking an edge rusher.
