Carl Lawson could be what the Giants need
Cincinnati Bengals’ edge rusher Carl Lawson could be the player that the New York Giants need to bolster their pass rush in 2021.
Brian Baldinger of the NFL Network recently broke down some of Lawson’s film.
Giants’ wide receiver Darius Slayton wouldn’t mind Lawson joining him in the Big Apple after both players attended Auburn University.
Lawson isn’t one of the top pass rushers in the NFL but he has plenty of potential to become one of the best. He recorded 5.5 sacks in 2020 and his best season was as a rookie in 2017 when he had 8.5 sacks.
Obviously Lawson’s stats won’t blow anyone away, but that is why taking a chance on him might be worth it. He’s not going to command the money that the likes of J.J. Watt will. If the Giants aren’t able to get one of the top pass rushers in free agency, Lawson would certainly be a nice fallback option.
