
Dexter Lawrence is living up to being a former first round pick
The New York Giants used one of their first round picks back in 2019 on defensive end Dexter Lawrence and it looks like it’s paying off.
After Lawrence’s second season in the NFL, he was one of the highest graded second year defenders, according to Pro Football Focus.
Lawrence recorded 37 solo tackles, 14 assists, and four sacks in 2020.
If the Giants can keep building around Lawrence by keeping Leonard Williams and bolster the outside linebacker position, it will free him up to wreak even more havoc on opposing offenses.
It was also easy for Lawrence’s play to fall under the radar with Williams have such a huge season by picking up 11.5 sacks in a contract year. But if he continue to trend in the right direction, people will start talking about him being one of the top defensive lineman in the NFL.
In case you’re wondering, the two other first round picks from the 2019 draft that the Giants ended up selecting, which were quarterback Daniel Jones and cornerback DeAndre Baker. Of course the Giants released Baker last year after he was involved in an alleged robbery incident that he ended up being cleared of.
