Giants should have used Markus Golden more in 2020
With the New York Giants searching for a pass rush in 2020, it was confusing as to why they didn’t utilize Markus Golden more before trading him to the Arizona Cardinals during the season.
Then once Golden returned to the Cardinals he wreaked havoc on opposing offenses, including the Giants when both teams faced off on December 13th of 2020. He ended up recording a sack, forced fumble and fumble recovery against Big Blue and finished the season with 4.5 sacks. That is some production that the Giants could have used.
This week Golden called out the Giants on Twitter for not using him in 2020 prior to trading him and he has a point.
You can’t tell me that having Golden on the field during pass rush situations instead of guys like Niko Lalos, Carter Coughlin and Kyler Fackrell wouldn’t have helped the Giants down the stretch as they fought for a playoff spot.
Golden will now once again hit free agency but of course don’t expect the Giants to bring him back because it’s obvious that this coaching staff doesn’t have a role for him going forward.
