Payton Turner would be a good mid-round option for the Giants
Another week and I have another New York Giants seven round mock draft for you. I have to once again make it clear that this isn’t what I think the Giants will do, this is what I would do if I was their general manager.
I used Pro Football Focus’ NFL draft simulator which of course dictated which players I took, since I selected the best player available that I think will help them.
1st Round (11) – Alabama WR Devonta Smith
With Smith still on the board this was a no-brainer. I would be surprised though if he makes it to 11 on draft night though.
2nd Round (43) – USC T Alijah Vera-Tucker
Offensive tackle isn’t the most glaring need for the Giants, but taking Vera-Tucker here is a great value pick. Also it wouldn’t hurt the Giants to bolster their offensive line with a high draft pick.
3rd Round (75) – Houston EDGE Payton Turner
Taking Turner in the third round would be a great way for the Giants to try and improve their pass rush.
4th Round (116) – Oklahoma State CB Rodarius Williams
The Giants need more help at corner which is why I took Williams here. As you can see below, PFF didn’t give me a great grade for this pick. He only recorded two interceptions during his college career, both in 2018.
6th Round (197) – West Virginia DL Darius Stills
With Leonard Williams and/or Dalvin Tomlinson likely bolting in free agency, the Giants will likely need to add another defensive lineman in the draft.
6th Round (202) – South Carolina G Sadarius Hutcherson
A late round flyer on an offensive lineman isn’t a bad idea in order to add depth to a young group.
Looking at the grades below I definitely hit with the first two picks and Williams was likely a reach in the fourth round.

I would love it if the draft works out like this. Would be surprised if Smith is there and even more surprised if Vera-Tucker is there in the 2nd round. But that would be great. My guess is Pitts would be there. He would be a great pick however trading back and getting more picks would be best. More picks to upgrades would be better. But if Smith is there then it’s hard to pass him up.
