The New York Giants got some great production in 2020 from two of their defenders in linebacker Blake Martinez and cornerback James Bradberry. And now it looks like Pro Football Focus took notice with their grading system.
Pro Football Focus actually pointed out this week that the three players on the Giants who made the biggest leap in 2020 when it comes to their overall grades were Bradberry, Martinez and quarterback Daniel Jones.
I know, many people don’t want to realize that Jones actually played better in 2020 than he did during his rookie season in 2019. He cut down on turnovers and did a better overall job of playing quarterback. I truly believe that if he can get some more reliable weapons he’ll make a big leap next season.
When it comes to Bradberry, he quietly showed the NFL and the football world that he is one of the top cornerbacks in the league and if the Giants can find a good second corner their defense will be a lot better going forward.
Last but not least, many doubters thought the Giants paid too much when they signed Martinez to a three-year, $30 million deal last year as a free agent. But he was one of Big Blue’s best defenders last season and held down the middle of their defense.
