Jonotthan Harrison will give the Giants more depth at the center position
The New York Giants announced on Wednesday that they’ve signed veteran offensive lineman Jonotthan Harrison.
The 29 year-old Harrison signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted rookie out of the University of Florida in 2014. He spent the 2020 season on the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad. During his time in Indy he made 23 starts and appeared in 44 games. Harrison has also spent time with the New York Jets from 2017-19.
It looks like Nick Gates will be the favorite to start at center in 2021, but Harrison will likely serve as injury insurance . The Giants also have Spencer Pulley, but he’s heading into the final year of his contract and this could be a sign that he will get released.
I also wouldn’t be surprised if the Giants add another center through free agency or the draft due to the fact that they don’t really have a clear cut reliable starter at the position and once again I would surprised if they don’t release Pulley to save the $2.7 million they owe him for 2021.
